Pennsylvania nonprofit research and support organization

Policy Innovations Institute (PII) is a nonprofit research and support organization located in the County of Allegheny within the state of Pennsylvania. The Mission of Policy Innovations Institute, a 501(c)(3) corporation, is to strengthen urban communities by researching, establishing and participating in public-private partnerships to provide innovative solutions to housing and education issues. Our vision is to establish solutions in housing and education that will be sustainable through public-private partnerships. It is our belief, that public-private partnerships provide more people with a vested interest, thus providing a greater opportunity for successful solutions.

Policy Innovations Institute was incorporated in October 2004. Initial funding was provided through a grant by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Policy Innovations Institute is governed by a three-member, volunteer, Board of Directors and an Executive Director.

Currently we are working on a number of projects in the areas of housing and education. In housing, we are researching and developing an innovative public-private model to address the problem of vacant homes in blighted areas. We are also engaged in educational research in the areas of career development, summer educational programs, and alternative program funding for schools.
